Studio notes
Make your next rehearsal count.
A simple plan for focused practice, whether you are working solo or bringing your group.
Choose one clear goal
Before you arrive, decide what you want to leave with. That could be a cleaner transition, a finished section of choreography or a confident run-through. A specific goal makes it easier to decide how to use your studio time.
Prepare before the session
Organise your music and reference material before rehearsal. If you are practising with others, agree on the sections you want to cover and who will lead each part.
- Bring the music you need, including a backup copy.
- Share the start time and studio location with your group.
- Check equipment needs with the studio before your visit.
Practise in manageable sections
Start with a comfortable warm-up, then work through shorter phrases before attempting a full run. Give tricky transitions their own time instead of repeating an entire routine without a clear focus.
When working in a group, make feedback specific and kind. Naming a count, direction or spacing change is more useful than simply asking everyone to do it again.
Leave time to wrap up
Reserve part of the session for a final run and a quick note about what to practise next. If you want to record, ask everyone involved first. Follow the studio’s guidance on using and leaving the space.
